Artificial intelligence also represents an extraordinary opportunity for the legal profession. However, like any innovative tool, it requires expertise, critical thinking, and above all, responsibility.

A recent case examined by the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court is a prime example of this.

A lawyer filed a document containing references to rulings that were found to be nonexistent, presumably generated by an artificial intelligence system. The citations, while apparently correct in form, lacked any basis in fact. For this reason, the Court ordered the documents to be forwarded to the competent Bar Council.

The episode confirms a fundamental principle: artificial intelligence can be a valid support for professional activity, but it can never replace the judgment, preparation, experience, and responsibility of the lawyer.

For this reason, in our firm, every regulatory and case law reference is rigorously verified. Any use of artificial intelligence tools is always accompanied by careful human review and fully intellectual, critical, and qualified input, in compliance with the highest standards of reliability, accuracy, and professional ethics.
